Education
The girls learned at home with their mothers and did not go to school. They learned how to do housework such as chores and learned to be suitable wives and mothers. The males were home-schooled until ages 6 or 7 and around 7 to 14 they attend school outside of home. The boys learned about math, speech, reading, writing, and science. Then they went to a higher school for 4 years where they learned advanced math, government and science. When they turned 19 they attended military school which includes basic training and conditioning for at least 2 years. They could choose whether or not they wished to continue into the official military or go on to become a politician. Some could even drop out to become anything else they wished to be.
This picture shows some students writing something on their tablets. One boy is talking to his teacher about his work. Take notice of how all the students in this picture are boys even the teacher. Girls are not permitted to attend school as the Greek society does not see it to be as important and rather redundant.
